“I took the first step somehow,” Lovi started.

“The movie is based on my concept. I want to start there before I could move forward and explore things behind the camera. It’s actually one of the things that I wanted to pursue. I feel I have a wild imagination din kasi so I want to explore film writing as well. I’ve been writing na it’s just that I'm really shy kaya I just pitch ideas and concept muna with people who can help me execute them,” she carried on.

Lovi Poe is on a role launching an international single, starring in a new film, and working on another movie, which she personally pitched to Regal Films.

While beginning to channel her creativity into a different vehicle, it’s her conscious effort to take it easy and set her focus on what she does best.

“One day you’d know if there’s something that I’d be doing outside acting and music because these are the things that I'd be doing for a while. There’s a lot of things that I would like to venture into, but right now I would like to focus more on acting and music because I believe that you should only focus on what it is that makes you really grow as an artist,” Lovi explained.

In speaking of growth, in her current film The Other Wife, which premieres today on streaming platform Vivamax,  Lovi maintains that her character is not similar to the previous roles she had tackled.

“Some people thought that it’s another affair movie. It’s not. That’s the reason why I accepted this project. It’s an entirely different role. In fact, I was about to turn down the role when it was offered to me but when I read the script, I realized that the character is really different,” she said.

“She’s very naive but towards the end, you’d see how her transformation as a movie character. I’d be spoiling the story if I told about it,” she added.

The Other Wife tells the story of Janis (Lovi) and Ronnie (Joem Bascon), a couple trying to fix their marriage. To make this work, they spend their time together in their beach house. Luisa (Rhen Escaño), Ronnie’s childhood friend joins them at the beach house. Suddenly, weird things start to happen.

“That’s what you saw in the trailer but there’s really more to it,” she assured.

While promoting the film, Lovi feels that things are beginning to go back to normal or at least a physical press conference is a step towards having a semblance of normalcy.

“We know that the virus is still there but it felt so good seeing familiar faces again,” she said alluding to he in-person event she recently participated in to promote her film.

“It’s one of the things I look forward to when promoting [a project], just meeting the members of the press and my co-actors again. It felt good good to do it again though it felt a little different because the number people allowed at the venue was limited and for some reason, I don’t know if it’s because of the pandemic, but the questions were extra hard,” she ended.
