The Filipino athletes of ONE Championship started gaming as a hobby, but that hobby has turned into a means of helping the less fortunate.
“Truth X Lakay Gaming,” a gamer squad composed of former ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera and Team Lakay stars such as reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, and Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, have been streaming games such as “Mobile Legends: Bang Bang” to their fans during their free time.
They also help when they can – evident when they held a charity stream for the kids of the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation.
The team sent the community 20 new modems, giving the kids get easier access to the internet. It’s much-needed help because the internet is vital in the kids’ education.
“I’m really happy to see that we’re able to help out the youth even in the smallest ways. It’s so heartwarming to be able to help out these people with what we do,” Belingon said.
ONE World Champions and Filipino stars alike – along with ONE Championship – frequently volunteer their time and resources to the charity.
In fact, this isn’t the first time Belingon helped the organization. He lent a helping hand to GK right before the pandemic started.
“The only message I have for these kids is to study hard, stay humble, and don’t give up on their dreams no matter what,” Belingon said.
