Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula and other priests lead the groundbreaking and site blessing of the Sto. Niño Parish Church in Pandacan, Manila, a year after the massive fire hit the church. “What we will do in the ceremony of digging and blessing the earth is our recognition that this earth is God’s grace and a sign of God’s relationship with us,” Advincula said in his homily. The church was razed to the ground on July 10, 2020, including its 400-year-old Sto. Niño and wooden tabernacle. However, the brass ciborium containing the Blessed Sacrament survived, with the Holy Eucharist intact.
