Customs and police authorities arrested a man posing as a customs employee to swindle unsuspecting victims.
The suspect identified as Macario Samson who also used the alias “Intsik” was arrested in an operation conducted by members of Customs intelligence and Manila police operatives.
Samson was discovered to be posing as a BOC employee using the name Emmanuel T. Dizon who was also discovered to have been posing as an International Container Terminal Inc. director with the name of Steven So Chan.
The suspect together with his accomplice allegedly swindled a customs client whose identity was withheld in an online transaction selling a motorcycle for P300,000.
According to the BOC, the suspect asked the victim to give P230,000 as downpayment to allow the suspect to retrieve and release the supposed motorcycle from the custody of BOC.
After receiving the payment, the suspect disappeared and did not answer the victims calls. This prompted the victim to report the incident which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
Found in the suspect’s possession were fake IDs of the Bureau of Customs and International Container Terminal Inc. The suspect is facing charges of estafa, falsification of public documents and usurpation of authority under the revised penal code.
