In an Oral History episode released by the Entertainment Weekly on June 14, the casts of The Devil wears Prada reunited in celebration of their movie’s 15th anniversary this June.

In the episode, the cast elaborated their taping moments during the movie and how they allotted time to perfectly portray the characters considering that they focus on fashion.

In line with this, Anne Hathaway, one of the main characters of the film, has elaborated on her experience as a part of The Devil wears Prada.

Hathaway stated that she dreamed to be part of the movie yet, she was not the first choice to play the role of Andrea Sachs.

According to the director of the film, David Frankel, his team had primarily decided to choose Rachel McAdams for the important part.

“We offered it to Rachel McAdams three times (…) the studio was very determined to have Rachel McAdams to be [the] star of the movie,” Frankel said.

Unfortunately, McAdams declined the cast offer which led to consideration for Hathaway.

“[I] very patiently waited until it was my turn and then I got a call and it was just the easiest yes,” Hathaway said noting that it was a dream come true for her to be part of the film.

From that moment on, Hathaway has always viewed the film to have a huge success afterward.

Frankel applauded Hathaway’s performance as he had seen the effort that she made during the production of the film.

The director even reminisced about the preparations that Hathaway had to do just to give the right emotion for the movie’s scene. “I like to think that one reason the movie is so affecting emotionally is [because of] Annie’s performance,” Frankel added.

Besides this, Hathaway also shared the improvements that were brought to her by the co-artists, specifically Meryl Streep, who played the role of her boss — Miranda Priestly.

She acknowledged how Streep had pushed her potential in acting as she served as the leader of the characters in the film.

“[Y]ou got me to kind of break through whatever barrier I had, and it meant so much to me. (…) You watch out for the other actors because when everybody’s doing a great job, the film benefits from that,” Hathaway elaborated.

The Devil wears Prada has brought the audience a glimpse of the fashion industry since June 30, 2006. With this, the movie has received numerous awards noting not only the movie itself but also the artists.

The film was based on the book written by Lauren Weisberger released on Feb. 4, 2003, and had a sequel entitled “Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns”.
