Indigenous sports to be tackled at Sports Summit

Philippine Sports Institute Dean for Sports Education Prof. Henry Daut returns to the National Sports Summit on Wednesday to spotlight ‘Sports and Indigenous Peoples’.

The Mindanao State University professor will give an overview on understanding the history and development of sports on Indigenous Peoples and their rich culture and traditions.

Daut is also set to tackle the progressive developments in indigenous sports, spearheaded by the Philippine Sports Commission, and ways where sporting communities can contribute in the advancement of sports for IPs.

“This session highlights the goal of the commission in developing sports for all sectors of the community, and create a culture of sports inclusivity for every Filipino,” explained PSC chairman William Ramirez.

Daut first took centerstage on the summit’s first batch and tackled the nation’s grassroots sports as the key to Olympic success.
