Padayon is a term we’ve all been hearing a lot lately. Padayon, in Bisaya, literally translates “to continue; to move forward without hesitation”.
It is indeed a very fitting term to be used in our situation today, and a more fitting term to describe what the Acrylic Painting students at Sunshine Place: Senior Recreation Center have been doing lately.
Despite spending more than a year in lockdown and dealing with life’s other challenges, they have found inspiration to move forward and hope for better days through art.
With this, Sunshine Place: Senior Recreation Center is pleased to announce the theme for this year’s first solo online art exhibit – Padayon: Showcasing Life’s Continuity Through Art.
The series’ grand opening will showcase the works of Maestro Fidel Sarmiento – Sunshine Place’ resident Acrylic Painting instructor, and President of the Arts Association of the Philippines. The online exhibit will formally open on July 16, 2021 and will run for a month. After which, a selected Sunshine Place art student who graduate from an acrylic painting course under the tutelage of Maestro Fidel will have the chance to have their own solo online art exhibit, where they will showcase and have the chance to sell their works.
The profiles and artworks of the featured artist exhibitors can be viewed at Sunshine Place: Senior Recreation Center’s website (www.sunshineplaceph.com) and will be available for one month each. In-person viewing can also be arranged by appointment and depending on IATF guidelines.
Those who wish to get a chance to learn under Maestro Fidel may also enroll in Sunshine Place’s Acrylic Painting online classes. For more information, contact 0917-515 5656 or email online.sunshineplace@gmail.com
