Citicore Power Inc. said retail electricity supplier arm Citicore Energy Solutions Inc. was included in the Department of Energy’s expanded list of entities qualified under the Green Energy Option Program.
GEOP is a voluntary mechanism launched in 2018, which allows consumers to source power
supply from a renewable energy supplier. Under the program, contestable customers who
consume at least 1,000 kilowatts can contract directly with RES directly for the volume, rate and
package that they prefer.
The program is aligned with the Retail Competition and Open Access policy, which are both designed to bring down electricity prices through competition.
Citicore has a diverse portfolio from solar, hydro and biomass energy sources and has the
largest installed solar energy capacity in the country. The company operates eight solar plants with an aggregate installed capacity of 163 megawatts, all of which are 100-percent contracted.
