Tropical storm “Dante” slightly weakened while moving toward Eastern Samar, leaving at least 1,761 passengers stranded in various ports across Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Southern Tagalog, northeastern Mindanao and Bicol Region.
Tropical cyclone wind signal no. 2 remained hoisted over Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, southern portion of Camarines Norte, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Island, Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Samar, Northern Samar, Biliran and the northeastern portion of Leyte.
Signal no. 1 was hoisted over Rizal, Laguna, the southeastern portion of Batangas, Quezon including Polillo Islands, the rest of Camarines Norte, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, the northeastern portion of Capiz, the northeastern portion of Iloilo, the northeastern portion of Negros Occidental, the northern portion of Cebu, the northeastern portion of Bohol, the rest of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands, Dinagat Island, the northern portion of Agusan del Norte, the northern portion of Agusan del Sur and the northern portion of Surigao del Sur.
Dante, the country’s fourth storm this year, has left at least 3 dead and 1 missing after inundating Mindanao.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard, the number of stranded individuals include passengers, drivers, cargo helpers with 44 vessels, one motorbanca, and 587 rolling cargoes.
“Moreover, 37 vessels and 57 motorbancas are taking shelter as a precautionary measure against the possible threat of the tropical cyclone,” the PCG said.
