Police authorities appeared upbeat Saturday as they announced the number of protocol violators in the general community quarantine “with heightened restrictions” had plunged to 19 percent.
PNP chief General Guillermo Eleazar told a Laging Handa briefing police had 51,000 violators last week compared to 63,000 in the previous week.
Eleazar said the decrease in the number of violators despite the loosening of restrictions was a good indication that the Filipinos were following public health protocols.
Last Monday, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reported to President Rodrigo Duterte 44,157 violations of public health protocols from May 12 to 16.
The number includes 32,867 violations of face mask protocol, 585 violations of mass gatherings, and 10,705 violations of physical distancing.
