The Rotary Club of Manila (RCM), the first in Asia, has selected eleven outstanding individuals in the travel and tourism industry, to receive the prestigious 17th Tourism Awards on May 20.

“This prestigious award is given to persons who gave their utmost services to promote and develop the industry here and abroad,” said RCM president Robert Lim Joseph, concurrent chairman of the tourism award committee.
Among the awardees are Michael Angelo Patrick Asperin, chief executive officer of the Balesin Island Club for the Luxury Membership Resort Category; Javier Hernandez, president and CEO of El Nido for the Luxury Resort Category; Singh Preet Inder, general manager of San Benito Farm for the Wellness Resort Category; RCM Dir. Farid Schoucair- General Manager of The Heritage Hotel for Deluxe Hotel category; Bernd Schneider, cluster general manager of Raffles and Fairmont Hotel for the Luxury 5 Star Hotel category; Michael Jaey Albaña, commercial director of Conrad Manila for the Urban Luxury Hotel category; Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia and Surigao del Norte Gov. Francisco Tinio Matugas for the Provincial Government category; and Shaliamar Hofer Tamano, regional director of the Department of Tourism for the Government Service category.
