The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines is spearheading partnerships with the National Telecommunications Commission, major Philippine internet service providers and the Asia Video Industry Association to block off websites with pirated content.
“This MoU elevates IPOPHL’s holistic approach in fostering a society that respects Intellectual Property (IP) rights, ” IPOPHL director-general Rowel Barba said in a statement during the virtual signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding with Singapore-based Asia Video Industry Association.
“Together, may IPOPHL and AVIA successfully stamp out the infringers and enable Filipino film and video producers, artists and contributors to wholly enjoy the rewards they deserve and to continue creating fresh original works for the benefit of society, culture and economy,” said Barba said.
He added the partnership was part of IPOPHL’s intensified crackdown against online piracy following a surge of cases.
