Armed Forces chief Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana has lauded the appointment of Lt. Gen. Jose Faustino as the new acting commander of the Philippine Army.
“Well (he served in) Sulu and now he is the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) commander so as far as the experience is concerned he has a high level of expertise in peace and security efforts,” Sobejana told reporters Friday.
Sobejana also believed that Faustino, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1988, would do well as acting Army chief.
When asked about Faustino’s designation as acting PA chief, he said this was because the former only had less than one year remaining in military service.
“Because he has less than one year remaining in the military service, by law it should be (a) year,” Sobejana said.
This designation will remain until Faustino’s retirement, he added.
“Until retirement for now, we will know if there would be other jobs that we would be given to him. We will know later,” Sobejana said.
