Taguig trains 41 health workers

The city government of Taguig continues to reinforce its vaccination program by conducting another COVID-19 Vaccination Training to 41 health workers last Thursday.

Taguig – National Immunization Program coordinator Dr. Jennifer Lou De Guzman and City Health Office chief Dr. Norena Osano led the program held at the Vaccination Hub, Lakeshore Mega Complex.

Dr. De Guzman conducted a lecture about the city’s vaccination process and guided the health workers a tour at the Vaccination Hub.

Attendees from private hospitals include Medical Center Taguig, Recuenco General Hospital, Sabili General Hospital, and Taguig Doctors Hospital.

Midwives from various private lying-ins, clinics, and a few frontliners from TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) Fort Bonifacio were also present.

According to Dr. Osano, the city government continues to empower and support frontliners from private hospitals, clinics, and lying-ins because they will also serve as catalysts in the vaccination process.

Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano said Taguig has over 700 experienced vaccinators, all with Cold Chain Accreditation (CCA). He added that at least 378 special vaccine teams, with five members each, will administer the vaccines in at least 42 vaccination centers.

Cayetano said the city will train more medical professionals for COVID-19 vaccinations if the need arises.

The Taguig Vaccination Strategy starts with social preparation by conducting public health information campaigns. The city will disseminate informational materials from the National Government, Department of Health, and private companies and corporations.

Community-based seminars will also be directed in different barangays in Taguig.

National Policy Against COVID-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. earlier commended Mayor Cayetano and described Taguig City as model city of effective COVID-19.

Galvez said Taguig was among the first batch of cities in Metro Manila to launch a drive thru testing facility, and the city that has one of the lowest number of active cases with only five cases per 100,000 residents.

“This is a testament of the outstanding leadership shown by Mayor Cayetano and the proactive strategy of your local government to contain and mitigate the spread of the virus,” Galvez said.
