Isko: Manila to continue simulating vaccinations

The Manila city government will use the time waiting for the COVID-19 vaccines to finally arrive to simulate its vaccination program, Manila  Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso  said Thursday.

He announced that the simulation by personnel from six city-run hospitals kicked off with Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital (JJASGH) conducting one at the Pedro Guevara Elementary School.

Domagoso thanked JJASGH Director Dr. Merle Sacdalan and the hospital personnel who participated for taking the initiative and showing their willingness and dedication to be readily of service to Manilans.

According to the mayor, the simulation is part of the city government’s preparations for the arrival of the COVID vaccines, to ensure a smooth flow of the entire inoculation processes.

He also said the simulation exercises will continue to develop “muscle memory” among those who will have direct participation in the entire vaccination program.

This, he said, will prepare the city personnel on how to handle hitches, should there be any, and pinpoint any part where there may be an unnecessary delay and resolve it.

The JJASGH Infection Control Committee was led by Sacdalan herself, when it convened in connection with the COVID-19 Vaccination Simulation Exercise for the institution.

Aside from the exercises being held, Sacdalan said the various types of vaccines available in the market were also discussed during the meeting.

“Logistics for the exercise were also detailed in the discussions. The goal of the exercise is to promote the preventive and promotive aspects of health – which includes vaccination to protect employees, frontliners and community members against the COVID-19 disease,” she said.
