Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano on Wednesday said Taguig City is now ready for the roll-out of its COVID-19 vaccination program.

The city government has started conducting trainings for the vaccination teams composed of professional physicians, nurses, and midwives.

Officials of the city’s Health Office led by its chief Dr. Norena Osano initially organized a two-day training held at the People’s Hall, SM Aura on Jan. 18 and 19.

It was also attended by Dr. Jennifer Lou de Guzman, National Immunization Program Coordinator for Taguig, together with cluster heads for health Dr. Marie Irene Sy and Dr. Cecille Montales.

Mayor Cayetano personally greeted and talked to the vaccinators during the training conducted in preparation for the city’s vaccination program which is set to cover all one million residents.

The local government is set to provide a preview of its vaccination process through a dry run at Taguig Field Hospital in Lakeshore Mega Complex. Some of the trained vaccinators will be onsite for the demonstration along with actors to serve as stand-ins to receive the vaccines.

When the program is fully rolled out citywide, the vaccination teams will be deployed in three mega vaccine facilities and community vaccination centers in every barangay.

Cayetano said the city government will train more medical professionals for COVID-19 vaccinations if the need arises.

The local government earlier announced it prepared P13.5-billion recovery budget for 2021, with P1 billion to be utilized for the vaccination program.

It also promised the end-to-end delivery system that would swiftly administer the supplies as soon as these are delivered to the city.

A partnership with ORCA Cold Chain Solutions has also been secured to store the city’s pre-ordered vaccines.

While the city government ensures that it is fully prepared to commence the immunization once the vaccine supplies are delivered, Mayor Cayetano reminds Taguigeños to remain vigilant and continue following the minimum health and safety protocols.
