Five years ago, Viva Entertainment partnered with TV5 for a reality-singing competition where amazing voices gathered to prove themselves worthy to be called “born to be a star.” This show gave birth to the singing career of Janine Teñoso who is now hailed as the OST Princess.
This month, Born To Be A Star returns to open up a new opportunity for talented individuals who want a shot at stardom. Viva is reviving this show, in cooperation with TV5, Sari-Sari, and Cignal, to remind everyone to keep reaching for their dreams no matter the circumstance.
Born To Be A Star is hosted by Jowable star and singer, Kim Molina, and actor-host Matteo Guidicelli who have just worked together as judge detectives in the recently concluded Masked Singer Pilipinas.
The show follows the journey of the contestants starting from audition where they are screened by Star Judges. Joining Janine Teñoso as a Star Judge is Teacher G (Georcelly Sy), rap icon Andrew E, who was also among the judges in the 2016 show. The other two Star Judges are singer-actor Sam Concepcion and singer Katrina Velarde.
Only 18 from the 40 successful auditionees will move on to boot camp where they will be trained by Star Mentors Thyro, Wency Cornejo, and Mark Bautista. Star Judge Teacher G also mentors in the aspect of movement and stage presence.
Once the singing battle begins, elimination is not far behind. But the show will see to it that no one will leave the competition without bringing home new learnings that will empower them. While the ultimate goal is to find that one exceptional artist to win the title Born To Be A Star, the process of doing so will give each contestant a moment to own that stage, show all that they’ve got, and share their story why they are a star in their own right in their family, workplace, or community.
The grand champion will be awarded P1 million in cash and a recording and management contract under Viva.
Born To Be A Star premieres on Jan. 30 at 7:00 p.m. on TV5.
