Cebu Pacific to start Manila-Surigao flights on January 16

Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) has announced it will start operating its Manila domestic flights to and from Surigao on Jan. 16.

"We are very pleased to launch this direct flight between Manila and Surigao as we believe this will contribute to the recovery of the travel and tourism industry," said Candice Iyog, CEB Vice President for Marketing and Customer Experience.

She added: "There is pent up demand for travel and this direct connection will allow both residents and tourists alike to fly to and from Surigao conveniently starting next year, be it for leisure or business purposes."

The Manila-Surigao route will be operated by CEB's sister airline Cebgo using its fleet of ATR aircraft.

To mark the launch of this new route, seats on Manila-Surigao flights will be sold for as low as P499 base fare until Jan. 31 and the travel period is from Jan. 16 to April 30, 2021.

The flight from Manila departs at 9:55 a.m. and arrives in Surigao at 12:15 p.m. The return flight leaves the Surigao Airport at 12:35 p.m. and arrives at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 2:55 p.m.

Aside from this new route, CEB management also announced the resumption of its direct Cebu-Surigao route every Tuesday, beginning Jan. 12. Seats on this flight are also on sale for as low as P299 one-way base fare.

CEB officials reminded air travelers of the negative COVID-19 swab test result taken 48 hours before departure as required by the provincial government of Surigao del Norte for visitors.

The local government also requires a confirmed hotel booking for at least 15 days in a facility accredited by the Tourism department, a printed copy of Surigao del Norte's Provincial Health e-FORM, and a valid identification card.

To date, CEB operates flights to and from 30 domestic and five international destinations. It has been rated 7/7 stars by airlineratings.com for its COVID-19 compliance as it continues to implement a multi-layered approach to safety, in accordance with global aviation standards.

These include contactless procedures, thorough cleaning and disinfection protocols for all aircraft and facilities, the mandatory wearing of masks and face shields for both passengers and crew, as well as Antigen testing for CEB frontliners before duty.

CEB's aircraft are also equipped with hospital-grade HEPA filters with 99.99% efficacy, keeping viruses at bay.
