SEAG, UAAP veterans lead women’s cage league hopefuls

Fifty-four applicants showed up in the second and final day of the WNBL Draft Combine at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City on Sunday.

Southeast Asian Games gold winner Khate Castillo, UAAP Season 82 finals MVP Monique Del Carmen, and former University of the Philippines standout Fille Claudine Cainglet headline the list of players that attended the event.

It was the turn of the guards to showcase their skills on Sunday while also undergoing agility tests, and biometrics in the lead-up to the actual draft set this month.

A total of 115 players came to the two-day event supported by Victoria Sports, Chris Sports, Phenom, Tanita, Chooks-to-Go, Uling Roasters, and GIG Sportswear with 61 forwards and centers also attending the affair which was held under strict health and safety protocols supervised by the Games and Amusements Board.

Also taking part in the event on Sunday are Mariel Campasa, Krista Mae Bongon, Klarisse Bascon, Loraine Jastine Capilit, Cherylane Cuyom, Nicole Delos Reyes, Ma. Ferlynn Decapia, Regina Tanya Dela Merced, Jean Liezl Delos Reyes, Katrina Rose Domino, Marika Daphne Esplana, Micah Joy Figuracion, Nicole Anne Garcia, Marie Elisa Gepilano, and Franchesca Gomendoza.

Fionna Mikee Gonato, Ericka Mae Hortaleza, Ayra Nil Hufanda, Anna Marika Iida, Christine Iriss Isip, Denyse Mariel Jimenez, Mary Rose Labrador, Shanna Mae Latoza, Danice Ysai Llosala, Sunny Gen Lucanas, Krystine Cloe Timtim, Leodine Mari Madrid, Nicole Mendina, Julie Ann Montilla, Junila Rose Petilla, Lourdes Pocallan, Jinnelle Ponce, and Quenee Roan Ragual were also present in the final day.

Camille Ramos, Karen Anne Salapong, Vanessa Jane Santos, Ma. Katrina Servillon, Ma. Princess Ray Sulit, Jacqueline Tanaman, Irene Torregosa, Ma. Michaela Bianca Sunga, Krizanne Claudine Ty, Jade Valenzuela, Eliezza Dianne Ventura, Loraine Ventura, Francesca Isabel Young, Jaimee Marie Chan, Hazelle Irysh Habon, Mary Krista Joanne Roberto, Cheng Garcera, and Loraine Gonzalo also showed up last Sunday.

All players and league staff underwent antigen tests before entering the actual combine area. As part of the social distancing measures being implemented, no scrimmages were held and coaches will be supplied with a video of the proceedings.

Renowned trainers Karlo Santos, Mark Caron, Aldo Panlilio, and Justin Aquino supervised the agility exams, while two coaches from Tamita administered the body composition tests.
