A complicatedly lucid song for the confused

After releasing a song for the brokenhearted, the alt-pop RnB artist Zack Tabudlo is back with ‘Sigurado,’ his newest release under Island Records Philippines.

“‘Sigurado’ was written the same week of ‘Nangangamba.’ I had written a lot of songs during that time last year,” Zack shares. “I wrote it having the same feeling as ‘Nangangamba:’ someone scared to commit and admit their feelings for a person. At the time, there was this popular phrase called sana all. I heard it in class, social media, literally everywhere. Thinking to myself, I was like, “What if I write a song called sana all?” It was a joke at first, but I actually did it.”

And the joke caught a tune unique for a song whose topic can be seen as sentimental. Lighter, more upbeat, and more playful in terms of production, ‘Sigurado’ is a contradiction artistically applied in many ways.

“That's kind of like the catch of the song: having such a hurtful meaning, but bopping and grooving your head ‘til the end of it. It's ironic but it's cool, something new from me,” he explains. “I gave the same twist to the title too. People would think it should be named ‘Hindi Sigurado,’ but I went for ‘Sigurado’ as the title. It’s giving the same energy from the song to the listeners of getting confused, same as the person in the song going through confusion, fear of commitment, and all the insane emotions in the song.”

More than being written for individuals who are scared of admitting their feelings, the single mimics the yearning for the courage and confidence to actually try to be in a committed relationship. Behind each line is the untold story of where this overwhelming fear stems from.

“It’s pretty much seen everywhere,” declares Zack. “Trauma from a past relationship, from getting cheated on and most especially ghosting. A lot of people are getting their hearts broken, whatever the reason is. Going through a breakup as well gave me a lot of inspiration with writing the song.”

‘Sigurado’ was written, produced, mixed, and mastered by Zack himself, like all of his other tracks, including the previously released ‘Nangangamba’ and ‘Cruel.’
