1st PRURide Virtual Challenge on Pulse set

While the ongoing lockdown may have stood in the way of many of our fitness goals, Pru Life UK is helping everyone finish the year healthy and fit with the PRURide Virtual Challenge on Pulse.

PRU Life UK SVP and Chief Customer Marketing Officer Allan Tumbaga announces exciting updates on the upcoming launch of the PRURide Virtual Challenge on PULSE, the inaugural online version of the country’s largest cycling festival, PRURide PH

Set to kick off this month, the virtual event serves as the inaugural online counterpart of PRURide PH, the country’s largest cycling festival. Powered by Pulse, Pru Life UK’s all-in-one health management app, the event invites cyclists, enthusiasts, and families to experience fun and safe cycling, wherever they are.

Open to all Pulse Android users who have subscribed to a FREE premium subscription, the virtual challenge is staged in partnership with Garmin smartwatch, a fitness band that can be easily synchronized with Pulse to track participants’ performances. By using Garmin or other Pulse-compatible wearables available on Android, even stationary bike users will be able to feel the adrenaline rush of an official rider.

“These challenging times have highlighted the benefits of cycling. Not only is the activity an antidote to our mostly sedentary lifestyle, but it is also an ideal mode of transportation that promotes social distancing. These advantages encourage us to go ahead with our annual PRURide PH, but in a way that is more attuned to the new normal,” says Pru Life UK SVP and Chief Customer Marketing Officer Allan Tumbaga.

To join the virtual rides, all cyclists need to do is download the Pulse mobile app on any Android device, sign up for a FREE premium subscription, and sync it with a Pulse-compatible wearable, such as a Garmin, Google Fit, and Fitbit. Within the app, users can choose between different Distance Challenges. Soon, other challenges such as the Individual Elevation Challenge, Saddle Time Challenge and Team Challenges will be introduced. For more inclusivity, participants can also expect other challenges coming very soon.

Families can also join the community engagement activity in the Pulse Cycling – PRURider community for a chance to win special prizes such as Best Decorated Bike, Best Christmas-themed family photo with bike, and Best kid costume photo with bike.

PRURide PH celebrity ambassadors Gretchen Ho and Kim Atienza are expected to participate in this year’s event. They will be joined by returning PRURide PH and Prudential RideLondon cyclists.

For the Individual Category – Distance Challenges, all cyclists who complete the routes will receive virtual medals, e-certificates, and five raffle entries to the PRURide Virtual Challenge Raffle, which will take place at the end of the event, for a chance to win exclusive Garmin items and other premium prizes. PRURide PH early bird finishers shall receive a Rudy Project sling bag and a PRURide PH 2020 jersey.

As part of Pru Life UK’s “We Do Health” advocacy, the PRURide Virtual Challenge on Pulse is just one of the company’s ongoing efforts to promote cycling as an accessible and safer mode of transportation in the new normal. Pru Life UK decided to go virtual to make the activity easy, safe, and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their skill level.

“PRURide PH has always been an inclusive festival for all cyclists, from beginners to professionals. In addition to providing our participants with an extraordinary cycling experience, we also want Filipinos to have an opportunity to have fun even amid tough circumstances. Cycling is an excellent way to start building holistic wellness management and healthy habits,” ends Tumbaga.

To register, simply download the Pulse app for free on Google Play. The event will happen until January 2021 and registration will be announced very soon. For more information, visit the www.prulifeuk.com.ph or the Pru Life UK Facebook page at facebook.com/prulifeukofficial.
