Korean superstars BTS may have trailed behind indie folk band Ben&Ben as the second most streamed artist on Spotify Philippines, but it’s a different story on the music streaming platform’s global K-pop list.
With more than 5 billion streams this year, BTS is the most streamed group globally and the top K-pop artist on Spotify in 2020.
Their first all-English single, “Dynamite,” released in September, is the year’s most streamed K-pop song. The track set a new record on Spotify this year, achieving 12.6 million streams in the first 24 hours.
The most streamed K-Pop album of the year is also BTS’ MAP OF THE SOUL : 7.
Following the Bangtan Boys as second most streamed K-pop artist is BLACKPINK. With more than 300 million streams, the girl group’s “How You Like That” is the second most streamed song of the year.
BTS and BLACKPINK also took the first and second spots, respectively, as the most streamed K-pop artists on Spotify Philippines. “Dynamite” and “How You Like That” are no. 1 and no. 2 as well on local Spotify.
Rounding off the most streamed K-pop artists list at third to tenth places are TWICE, Stray Kids, Red Velvet, EXO, Seventeen, IU, NCT 127, and (G)I-DLE.
The most streamed K-pop songs following “Dynamite” and “How You Like That,” are “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)” by BTS and Halsey, “Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez)” by BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez, “Black Swan” by BTS, “ON” by BTS, “Sour Candy (with BLACKPINK)” by Lady Gaga and BLACKPINK, “Kill This Love” by BLACKPINK, “Psycho” by Red Velvet, and “WANNABE” by ITZY.
Meanwhile, over on Spotify Philippines, the most streamed artists—from first to fifth—are Ben&Ben, BTS, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and BLACKPINK.
Philippines’ most streamed song of 2020 is local alt-rock band Magnus Haven’s anthemic track “Imahe,” followed by Justin Bieber’s “Intentions” and Ben&Ben’s “Make It With You” on the second and third spots, respectively.
On the podcast front, homegrown podcasters and Spotify Exclusives Sleeping Pill with Inka, Adulting with Joyce Pring, and Boiling Waters PH take the top three spots on the Philippines’ most popular podcasts list.
