Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) recently kicked off a ‘drive-thru’ Easytrip RFID installation for over 100 journalists and their dependents.
The event, held at the Hong Kong Sun Plaza at Diosdado Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City, was organized in coordination with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr), to make toll fee payment transactions cashless and contactless on Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.-operated expressways NLEX, Cavitex, CALAX, and SCTEX. The RFID installation was only open to Class1 vehicles such as cars, sports utility vehicles, and passenger vans.
No documents were needed. Pre-registered media practitioners shelled out P200 for the initial RFID load.
MPTC corporate communication manager Arlene Capistrano, told the Manila Standard that the event, replicated in other locations, made things easier for motorists.
“A drive-thru system, where people don’t have to fall in line physically, is best,” she explained. “You just to be in your car, and wait for the installer and give you the RFID sticker.”
