Caloocan Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan expressed his gratitude to the entire Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) for donating its 5,000 food packs through the Lingap sa Mamamayan program on Saturday.

The turn-over ceremony held at Barangay 171 covered court is also a celebration of the birthday of the beloved General Manager of Iglesia ni Cristo, Ka Eduardo V. Manalo.

“We in the city of Caloocan extend our eternal gratitude for your continued support and love for the people of the city. Thank you for your meaningful program Lingap sa Mamamayan,” said Malapitan.

According to the Mayor, the food packs will be distributed to single parents and persons with disabilities (PWD). After the turn-over ceremony, 500 food packs were immediately given out.

Meanwhile, the City Government is expected to distribute the remaining food packs to other solo parents and PWDs on Tuesday, November 3.

Mayor Oca’s program includes O1 Caloocan North District Supervising Minister Ka Wilson Cayago, other Church officials of Cristo-Caloocan North District, Congressman Along Malapitan, and City Administrator Engr. Oliver Hernandez.

Meanwhile, the Caloocan City Government, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), launched the Free Bicycle or FreeBis program.

Through the program, 44 citizens of the city were given a free bicycle, water bottle holder, carrier, insulated leather bag, helmet with reflectorized vest, adult PVC raincoat, and cellphone with P5,000 load.

In addition, four lucky people were also given free smart tablets from Senator Bong Go.

The 44 selected beneficiaries have online businesses in North and South Caloocan. They went through a thorough process and contacted the Caloocan City Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

“We are grateful to DOLE and Senator Bong Go for their continued support for us and their partners in programs for the people,” said Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan.

“Everyone is with the Caloocan City Government in your recovery from this pandemic. May these bicycles and cellphones help your livelihood,” Mayor Oca added.

Mayor Oca was joined in the launch of the program by Rep. Along Malapitan, DOLE Assistant Secretary Victor Del Rosario, DOLE-NCR Assistant Regional Director lawyer Marian Sevilla, and PESO Caloocan head Violeta Gonzales.
