Five barangays in Parañaque City—Don Galo, La Huerta, San Dionisio, Vitalez, and Sun Valley—are free of coronavirus disease, Mayor Edwin Olivarez said on Wednesday.
The city government also recorded only 51 active cases as of Tuesday.
Records from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed the city has a total of 6,648 cases, with recovered patients at 6,404 (96.3%) and fatalities at 168 (2.5%) since last March.
CESU chief Dr. Darius Sebastian said the number of active COVID-19 cases in the city declined continuously in just over a week.
Barangay Don Galo has recorded 207 recoveries out of its 210 confirmed cases with three deaths since March. But as of Tuesday, the village now has zero active cases, according to Sebastian.
He said 209 out 214 confirmed cases in Barangay La Huerta have recuperated from the virus with no more active cases. In Barangay San Dionisio, 564 people have recovered from its 582 confirmed cases but recorded 18 deaths since March.
A total of 115 residents of Barangay Vitalez have recovered out of the 116 confirmed cases with one fatality since COVID-19 pandemic started eight months ago. The active cases of also declined to zero last Tuesday.
On the other hand, the number of persons infected of the disease dipped to zero in Barangay Sun Valley, as 514 out of the 526 confirmed cases have been sent home while recorded 12 deaths.
Sebastian said residents in these five barangays have cooperated with the medical officials and followed safety and health protocols that helped bringing down the numbers of active cases this month.
