Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Friday warned criminals not to make Baseco a haven for their illegal activities.
Domagoso made the pronouncement after he and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna inaugurated the New Baseco Baywalk where he also urged the residents to inform his office should they know of anyone engaging in illegal activities within the community.
Domagoso also asked the residents to inform either the City Hall or police authorities about the presence of fugitives from justice or “wanted” persons in the neighborhood, saying he is committed to providing them with a peaceful environment but would need everybody’s help and cooperation.
“Ayokong pamahayan ng kriminal ang Baseco, sinabi ko ‘yan nung unang pag- upo ko pa lamang. Kung meron pang nakikinig na tolongges at hahalubilo sa mga mapayapang tao, umalis na kayo rito, uubusin ko kayo rito,” Domagoso said.
The mayor said the reputation of any community rests on the hands of its citizens and as such, he expects the residents to do their share in keeping their area as peaceful as possible.
Domagoso said efforts to make Baseco free from criminals is now complemented by the creation of a new police precinct which is now situated right within the area.
