The country’s pioneer world-class exhibition venue is now ready to accept bookings for MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions) events once Metro Manila transitions to modified general community quarantine.
The World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) is a top-of-the-mind corporate assembly facility which has hosted countless global and local events through its 24 years of existence.
Operating as a temporary quarantine location for the national government these past six months, the WTCMM management has made sure the building is safe and fit for occupancy for its future customers. It has undergone thorough decontamination and disinfection of all its indoor and outdoor areas, including its air conditioning ducts and filters, its walls and surfaces.
The conducted safety measures also involved the siphoning of septic tanks and the hauling of infectious waste. Together with these, all installations have been pulled out and damages have been repaired to put this world-class mega events venue back to its original state.
As an integral part of WTCMM’s preparedness to handle new business, it has launched the BE (Business Events) Safe Program, ascribing to the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force and the Department of Tourism. This communicates the management’s requirements and procedures on how the facility will operate as a safe business venue in the face of the continuing threat of COVID-19.
WTCMM president and chief executive Pamela D. Pascual said it was a great honor for the venue to have been given the opportunity to help augment the gap in our country’s healthcare services. At the same time, she declared her eagerness to resume business and help revive the country’s economy, serve the MICE industry’s stakeholders, and, consequently, tend to the welfare of those employed in her facility.
The WTCMM has had the honor of hosting the Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) twice—in 1996 and in 2016. It also served as the International Media Center for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, and the main venue for the National Women’s Summit which was attended by 15,000 delegates including then US First Lady Hillary Clinton.
The facility was also the locale for Le Rendezvous de France, a grand and colorful country show of France where replicas of the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum were built inside its humongous hall. Furthermore, prominent economic ministers of Asia converged in this world-class venue for the Philippine Economic Basin Dinner a few years back. As if to banner its size, the WTCMM hosted the National Priests’ Convention twice, each time counting approximately 5,000 attendees.
Large-scale exhibitions of high-powered industries such as manufacturing, heavy machinery, construction, food, livestock, and agriculture, among others, have found their home at the WTCMM. This pioneer mega events venue is a proud Premier Certified Member of the World Trade Centers Association headquartered in New York, USA, which has 319 members in 88 countries.
The WTCMM is the first and only exhibition center in the country to be managed by an ISO-certified company, the Manila Exposition Complex, Inc., and is accredited by DOT and the Tourism Promotions Board.
With its unparalleled expertise in exhibitions, trade shows and events, there is no doubt the World Trade Center Metro Manila will continue to attract prestigious mega gatherings of visitors from all over the world, a scenario that we, in the tourism industry, which has been dormant the past seven months, have been hankering for.
