Ex-reporter seeks NBI, CIDG help

A former journalist, who is now the general manager of a construction firm, has filed complaints with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) against four of her former employees for death threats she has allegedly been receiving from them.

Virginia Rodriguez, a former reporter for the Manila Bulletin, complained against Christine Adaniel Escalante Reuyan, Mark Eudell Guerrero, Jose Gayoba alias “Madam Lola,” and Myla Gumban.

Rodriguez said she fired Reuyan, her company’s erstwhile sales agent, and the three others from her company for allegedly committing corruption.

Apart from filing complaints before the NBI and CIDG, Rodriguez is also set to file a lawsuit in a court in Las Piñas City against the suspects.

According to Joel Diokno, Rodriguez’s lawyer, they will file cases of grave threats, slander, and cyber libel against the suspects.

Reuyan, Guerrero, Gayoba and Gumban could not be contacted for comment as of presstime. The Standard tried to reach out to Reuyan via Facebook but received no reply as of Wednesday night.

In her complaint to the NBI and CIDG, she claimed that after she sacked the workers from the company, she has been threatened with death.

Rodriguez said Reuyan allegedly paid a gun-for-hire P100,000 to kill her.

Rodriguez said the suspects even discredited her and ruined her reputation to people she knew in the government so they could continue their projects after stealing some documents from the company.

According to the construction firm manager, she has complete evidence of a plan to ruin and kill her.

“Si Reuyan, Guerrero, Gayoba at Gumban ay nagkita sa isang lugar upang planuhin ang pagpatay sa akin. Si Guerrero ang kumontak sa isang dating military gun man upang itumba ako sa halagang P1 million,” Rodriguez alleged.

She said that since last week, cars have been circling her house to monitor her every move, and suspicious vehicles were following her every time she leaves the house.
