Tiangco to residents: Get tested

Mayor Toby Tiangco has renewed his encouragement to residents and workers in Navotas to get tested for free at the city’s community testing for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

This October, the City Health Office scheduled swab testing every Saturday, except on October 31, to accommodate those who could not leave work during weekdays.

“As long as there are COVID-19 cases in the city, we have to stay cautious and on our guard.  The steep decline in our positivity rate after our initiative to promptly test, trace, treat and isolate patients only shows that we are on the right track,” Tiangco said.

From 23 percent in July, the city’s positivity rate plunged to 7 percent at the end of September.

“Our strategy worked. We need to continue and sustain it so we can achieve zero cases soon,” he added.

On October 3, 103 residents and workers underwent swab testing.

Of this, 16 were from personal care services; 12 from beauty parlors and barber shops; 16 from various banks; and 28 from other business establishments in the city.

Also included were 22 residents who requested to be tested and nine close contacts of COVID-19 patients.

As of October 5, Navotas has conducted 34,003 tests or 12.7 percent of its population.

Residents who wish to undergo testing may coordinate with their respective barangays.

On the other hand, companies or establishments that want to have their employees tested may contact the City Business Permits and Licensing Office at these numbers: (0921) 376 2006 and (0921) 890 7520.
