The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will close another U-turn slot along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue following the closure of the first one situated on North Avenue near Trinoma Mall.

The U-turn slot (northbound and southbound) infront of Quezon City Academy will be closed beginning Oct. 12

On Oct. 5, the MMDA will start installing directional signages within the vicinity of the affected U-turn slot to notify motorists of the impending closure.

Motorists are advised to take the following detour routes:

From northbound going southbound, affected vehicles may take U-turn slot after Congressional Avenue (infront of Landers) and from southbound going northbound, affected vehicles may take U-turn slot after Quezon Avenue Service Road (under Quezon Ave. flyover)

The impending closure of U-turn slots along EDSA will make commuters travel through the EDSA Carousel easier, more convenient, and faster,” MMDA chairman Danilo Lim said.

The EDSA busway project designates the innermost lane of EDSA as exclusive lane for buses travelling along the national highway.

Lim assured motorists that the agency will deploy additional traffic enforcers to guide them and manage traffic flow in affected areas.

The MMDA said that it will gradually close all U-turn slots along EDSA to give way for the smooth operation of EDSA Busway project aimed to provide faster mobility for the commuting public.

Other U-turn slots to be closed are as follows: De Jesus, Gen. Tinio, Malvar, and Biglang-Awa in Caloocan City; Balintawak, Kaingin, Landers, Dario Bridge, Walter Mart, Quezon City Academy, Trinoma, Timog, and Santolan in Quezon City.

Affected motorists may use the service road or alternate routes.

In July, the government began operating the EDSA Busway project to complement the operations of Metro Railway Transit line 3 and its bus augmentation program.

The project aims to help transport commuters in the National Capital Region amid the general community quarantine still being enforced to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.

It will also cut travel time from Monumento to Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange from the usual 2 to 3 hours because of traffic, to just 45 minutes to 1 hour.
