The Malabon City Government has launched its contact tracing app with the use of a quick response (QR) code system, as it intensifies local efforts to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the City.
The contact tracing app via QR code technology is integrated to the current City Health Monitoring System, providing real-time updates of data and information to the City Health Department.
The City Government will be piloting the new app for its employees and within City Government enclosed properties like the City Hall Building, Ospital ng Malabon, Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon, Barangay Health Centers, and others, where QR scanners will be placed in entry and exit points.
After the pilot-testing phase, the contact tracing app will be implemented in the whole city.
The next phase of implementation will be supported by an ordinance that will require all Malabonians and non-Malabonians to download a QR Code that will be used before entering enclosed establishments within the City.
Once in place, the City will eliminate the use of contact tracing forms and papers, thus minimizing direct contacts and possible spread of the virus.
The contact tracing app is part of the City Government’s “Prevent, Detect/Test, Trace, Quarantine/Isolate, Treat” strategy to combat the spread of COVID-19.
