The Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines, a group of banking institutions which seeks to upgrade the practice of bank marketing in the country, advised the public to always secure their bank accounts amid the rising cybercrime incidents during the current health crisis.
“The Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines supports the industry’s fight against cybercrime and theft, by raising awareness of the banking public on how to protect themselves offline and online,” it said in a statement Tuesday.
“BMAP encourages everyone to remain vigilant and confident in the banking industry’s cyber security measures against fraud attacks to ensure the delivery of secure and safe financial services,” it said.
It said cyber threats such as phishing and smishing were fast evolving and growing, and extraordinary times like the COVID-19 pandemic opened up opportunities for fraudulent activities.
