3 former UST Tigers become Letran Knights

Three players former players of the University of Santo Tomas are reportedly taking their acts to the Letran Knights.

Prized cagers Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso and Ira Bataller have reportedly been accepted into the team.

The presence of the three is expected to bring experience to the Knights' game as they seek to their to defend the crown they won in Season 95 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association men's basketball tournament.

The three left UST amidst mounting fears of a possible team suspension for its failure to comply with protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Their departure a few weeks ago came as a government body looked into safety and health protocol violations that may have occurred during the Growling Tigers' alleged training bubble in Capuy, Sorsogon.

Sources said the three cagers have completed their transfer papers with the school.

The 22-year-old Paraiso averaged 7.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists the last time he played for UST.

Abando, Paraiso and  Bataller are expected to suit up once they have completed their years in residency.
