Several residents of Pampanga and Metro Manila have urged Senator Lito Lapid to investigate underground COVID-19 Chinese hospitals in Clark, Pampanga and other parts of the country.
Leth Reyes, in an email sent to Lapid — a native of Porac, Pampanga — said recent news reports of underground clinics "worried me and my family. I am also wondering why they are only accepting Chinese people at that hospital."
"I am but a simple homemaker. As a mother, I am in fear and disheartened that such establishments exist right in the heart of my beloved province in the midst of such uncertain times," Reyes said.
Arnel Espinosa, 55, from Macabebe, Pampanga, requested Lapid to punish those who will be found liable for the existence of the clandestine hospitals.
"Gawa ko pung paralan para miparusahan la deng ating koneksyon keng illegal COVID-19 Hospitals king Pampanga," Espinosa said.
Jason Cruz, a resident of San Juan in Metro Manila, told the senator he "is sick and in danger because of COVID-19."
"I read about the underground hospitals in Pampanga and I am afraid why are they hiding. I am also afraid that they may be the one's spreading COVID-19. I am in danger because of my health condition," he lamented.
Cruz said the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detention Group should continue its investigation to apprehend and jail the people behind this illegal operation.
Police Brig. Gen. Rhoderick Armamento, deputy director for administration of PNP-CIDG, on Friday said they received reports about the existence of illegal COVID treatment facilities in Central Luzon (Region 3), Metro Manila, and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) or Region 4-A.
“We are validating the reports that we have received and our intelligence build-up operations are on-going. We have reports not only in Region 3 but also in Metro Manila and Region 4-A,” Armamento said.
Another email sender, Victoria Lagman Sanchez, told Lapid she worries about her grandparents who are based in Pampanga.
"Hindi po ako makauwi sa kadahilanan ng pandemya. Sana po ay aksyunan ng inyong tanggapan ito. Patuloy po akong aasa na kayo po ay aming matatakbuhan," Sanchez said.
