San Jose del Monte, Bulacan Rep. Florida Robes, a member of the House committee on people participation, on Sunday said the Russian government is inviting Filipino students and graduates to avail of its scholarship grants to its many universities.
She said she called for a meeting to inform fellow legislators about the scholarship grants being offered by the Russian government to Filipino students and graduates.
Denis Karenin, second secretary of the Russian Embassy, told the committee that the Russian government has been reserving slots for scholarships for Filipinos every year.
He said the Russian government is giving scholarships to any field of study for both undergraduate and post-graduate courses.
Application forms are available online in the embassy website.
Courses available are in nuclear physics, agriculture, medicine and energy and railway management, among others.
“But students may choose any field of specialization in any university,” Karenin said.
The Russian government would provide free tuition and accommodation but airfare is not included.
According to Robes, she could facilitate the submission of applications of students from her district.
“We are very fortunate that this kind of opportunity is being offered to us. This is the kind of partnership that we need in order to give our young students valuable education in their fields of interest,” she said.
