The Manila City government, through its Manila Public Information Office, explained on Sunday the photos that surfaced online showing attendees failing to observe social distancing during the launch of vendors’ stalls in Divisoria on Saturday.
The MPIO said the organizers failed to control the number of people who arrived at the event.
They said the city government had reminded them of health protocols, particularly physical distancing during the opening of vendors' stalls.
Due to this, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Domagoso decided to leave the event immediately as many supporters requested to take photos with him.
Domagoso was saddened he was not able to accommodate all those who attended the launch of the city’s project.
On Saturday, residents of Manila and members of the media flocked to Tabora Street in Divisoria to witness the formal opening of vendors' stalls.
Based on the photos posted online, netizens noticed that the attendees failed to observe social distancing during the event.
