The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the Caloocan City Government jointly discussed the state of COVID-19 in the city and the steps they can take to intensify the fight against the coronavirus.
In their meeting last August 6, the City Government, led by Caloocan City Mayor Oscar "Oca" Malapitan, provided an update on Caloocan's current situation in its fight against COVID-19.
National Task Force (NTF) COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Secretary Vince Dizon promised that they will provide additional test kits and help build a testing center in the city.
In an interview with Mayor Oca, he said the city government will continue to intensify its measures and procedures to meet the challenges faced by the city due to the pandemic.
"I assure you that we are doing our best to keep our city and its people safe since Day 1," said Mayor Oca.
He added that although it is not easy for everyone to control the pandemic, it can be contained if the people cooperate by following simple guidelines such as staying indoors and physical distancing.
Apart from Dizon, also at the meeting were Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, World Health Organization Philippines Officer-in-Charge Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe, Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Joyce Niwane, DOH Director Dr. Rudy Albornoz, NTF Special Adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa, DOH-NCR Regional Director Corazon Flores, and DOH Director Gloria Balboa.
Malapitan came with City Administrator Oliver Hernandez, Caloocan City Health Officer Dr. Evelyn Cuevas, Caloocan City Contact Tracing Head Atty. Sikini Labastilla, Caloocan Planning Chief Aurora Ciego, DILG-Caloocan Director Marco Cabueños, and City Epidemiologist Dr. Lilia Imperio.
