Something “oppa-tizing” arrived in a premier mall in Metro Manila, and it involved favorite Korean food and Korean heartthrobs.

Soban K-Town Grill’s Favorite Feast Barbecue Set

In partnership with streaming platform Viu, SM Megamall in July served some Korean cuisine and other treats at the Seoul Spot in Mega Fashion Hall.

Soban K-Town Grill offered its Dosirak Korean Boxed Meals and Favorite Feast Barbecue Set, while Dohtonbori served its authentic okonomiyaki and donburi bowls.

The Lost Bread’s Milk and Cookies ice cream

Also available were The Lost Bread’s Hawhaw milk-flavored ice cream, Serenitea’s milk tea beverages, and Satchmi’s fine coffee.

The food pop-up also had special guests including Hyun Bin’s character from Hyde Jekyll, Me, Park Seo-joon in What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?, Ji Chang-wook in Love in Trouble, Park Bo-gum in Encounter, and So Ji-sub in Master’s Sun TV series as image pillows that served as customers’ dining buddies and physical distancing markers.

A pair of giant standees in hanbok, or Korean traditional costumes, welcomed customers, at the same time serving as a reminder to practice physical distancing and wear a mask.

In addition to this creative K-dining experience, Megamall also has other areas that promote safe dining amid a pandemic, while keeping things light and fun. The Event Center has been transformed into a tropical paradise complete with inflatable flamingoes and colorful inflatable floaters that can accommodate up to 34 diners.

At Mega Atrium, huge emojis—some wearing masks and others protective equipment—and Smiley Chairs provide maximum of 18 diners a fun way to dine.
