400 Caloocan COVID contact tracers on 4-day full training

A four-day contract tracing training was conducted in Caloocan City ending Sunday attended by new contact tracers like psychologists, encoders and volunteers from various departments; dentists and nurses assigned to health centers; and Barangay Health Emergency Response Team from the barangays.

The 400 new contact tracers were taught how to properly communicate or interview Caloocan residents who tested positive from COVID-19.

The main job of the new contact tracers is to find the close encounters of the COVID-19 patient in the city and find out their activities from the day he or she felt the symptoms or from the day he or she underwent swab testing.

"Aggressive contact tracing is what we do because it is one of the keys to quickly identify those who have encountered patients with COVID-19 so as to prevent its spread," said Mayor Oscar Malapitan.

According to Malapitan, people who came in contact with those who tested positive for the disease or so-called "close contact" would also undergo immediate swab testing.

Swab testing is provided free of charge to Caloocan residents to ensure that that the virus will not be passed on to more people, officials said.
