Police arrested a suspected drug trafficker and placed two minors under custody during a buy-bust operation in Parañaque City on Tuesday.
The authorities seized more than P1.3 million worth of shabu from suspect Mack Kadil, 34, a native of Cotabato City and resident of Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City. He is now detained at the Paranaque City jail.
The minors, both 17 years old and residents of Las Pinas City and Cavite, were placed under police custody for being accomplices to the crime.
A team from the Southern Police District, Paranaque City Police, and Quezon City Police-Intelligence Division conducted the entrapment in front of a fast-food restaurant at the corner of Boulevard and Opena Streets in Barangay Baclaran around 12:30 p.m. On July 21.
The police operation was also coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-National Capital Region Office.
Seized from the suspects were 200 grams of shabu, two mobile phones, and the P1,000 bill used by the police in the entrapment.
Prior to the arrest, the authorities conducted surveillance against Kadil following information about his illegal activity. Police believed the suspect was also using the two minors in dealing with clients.
The seized prohibited substance was turned over to the SPD crime laboratory for chemical analysis and confirmatory testing.
Police said the suspects would be charged with violation of Section 5, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Two suspected drug dealers were also arrested last month in Paranaque City, where police seized over P400,000 worth of shabu.
The suspects were Andrew Puelong, 40, of 3920 S. De Guzman Street, Barangay Don Galo, and Zade Bugasto, 49, of 6485 Tramo Street, Barangay San Dionisio, both in Parañaque.
More than 61 grams of shabu worth P417,384, two mobile phones, drug paraphernalia and the money used in the drug bust were recovered from the suspects.
SPD director Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Peralta commended his men for the latest accomplishment.
“The teamwork, commitment and strong sense of determination demonstrated by police operatives from the different drug enforcement units of the Southern Metro in pursuit of criminals and curbing the drug menace merit distinction worthy of emulation. Congratulations for another job well done,” said Peralta.
