Food deliveries or ready-to-eat foods are not allowed to enter in Navotas City, this is to strictly follow the 14-day city-wide lockdown to be enforced starting today, July 15, due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the city. The lockdown will last until July 29, 2020.
In an announcement, Mayor Toby Tiangco said that delivery of foods like “Grab Food”, “Food Panda” and other online food deliveries from other cities will not be allowed to enter the vicinity of Navotas City.
Even individuals who are not residents of Navotas and are only going to visit their relatives will also not be allowed. But in the event that they will insist, a case will be filed against them.
The food delivery system has been in demand in Metro Manila, since the entire Luzon was put under the Enhanced Community Quarantine on March 16 due to the COVID-19.
Mayor Tiangco said that non-residents may pass thru the main roads of C4 and Road 10, ads that vehicles can pass through but they will be subject to inspection.
Employees working outside of the city are not included in the lockdown but are instructed to follow safety protocols such as wearing of a face mask and maintaining physical distancing.
Commercial establishments are also exempted from the lockdown, but social distancing should be observed at all times. Mayor Tiangco said he had decided to implement the lockdown due to the continuing rise of the number of COVID-19 positive cases, the number of people of dwelling on the streets and those who do not comply adds up to the burden in the city.
