“Pwedeng Tayo” is a song The Clash Season 1 alumnus Anthony Rosaldo is very passionate about. He treats the song as if it’s a gentle being that the world needs to see and hear.
The song was written by Vehnee Saturno, Davey Langit, Jonathan Manalo, and Edwin Marollano during the first-ever FILSCAP Master Camp held last year. It tells a story about two individuals who found love at the wrong time.
“It feels like a responsibility. I needed to give the song justice. The one who recorded the demo was Davey. He’s a very talented singer. So, when I was recording it, I had to be a perfectionist because I wanted to match the kind of artistry they put into the song,” Anthony told Manila Standard during an online video interview.
He recorded the song in his own home during quarantine. The other people who were part of the recording such as the musical arranger, the backup vocalists, and the guitarists, as well as the vocal processing were also done in their respective homes. Only the final mixing of the track was done in the studio. Anthony described this experience as “fun and challenging at the same time.”
“It took me two hours to record it. I was able to buy a gadget that isolates noise that’s why I didn’t have to go to an enclosed space to record. But if I were with a professional sound engineer, it would take me less than an hour to finish recording the song,” the 26-year-old singer shared.
Despite the challenge, Anthony revealed that recording the track was an easy one, a step towards reinventing himself as an artist.
“I was very skeptic when it comes to recording my next single. I really wanted to reinvent my music, give my listeners a new one to fall in love with. And then came the day for my song listening (listening session). Ito yung mamimili na ako ng song. Funny kasi I will be presented only one lang pala. GMA Music knew that ‘Pwedeng Tayo’ was the song that I really wanted to associate myself with,” Anthony recounted.
Talking about the message “Pwedeng Tayo,” wanted to convey, Anthony shared that it’s a lyrical story that most people who have gone through heartbreaks in their life can relate to as it mirrors the reality of love and life.
“Not everyone easily finds his or her perfect match. Either you fall for the wrong person or it wasn’t really your time yet. Sometimes it takes a lot of attempts, a lot of heartbreaks to find ‘The One’ but the good thing is, you will still try kaya kapit lang,“ Anthony said.
Recently, the GMA Artist Center talent was conferred as Most Promising Male Recording Artist of the Year for his debut single “Larawan Mo” under GMA Music at the 51st Box Office Entertainment Awards. The recognition was given by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Inc.
