Several non-government organizations have received P3.35 million in assistance for frontliners and depressed communities after RCBC Bankard enabled the voluntary donation of reward points of its cardholders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the implementation of community quarantine protocols, RCBC Bankard credit cardholders donated a total of 13,400,800 reward points worth P3,350,200.
These were donated to RCBC Bankard partner NGOs such as the Philippine Red Cross, Gawad Kalinga, SOS Children’s Village and Alfonso Yuchengco (AY) Foundation.
Majority of the donations went to Philippine Red Cross with P1,899,900 which was used to build 41 medical tents and help two molecular laboratories in Metro Manila.
These were also used to provide personal protective equipment, hot meals, face masks and hygiene kits to frontliners and patients.
SOS Children’s Villages Philippines received P622,600 for the purchase and delivery of food, vitamins, and hygiene kits to abandoned and neglected children in other children’s villages in Calbayog, Iloilo, and Tacloban.
Gawad Kalinga’s WalangIwanan, WalangHawaan #BayanihanKontraCOVID19 operation received P546,900 to provide hope gift packs to 4,060 families from the most vulnerable communities in Metro Manila and Mindanao.
The remaining P280,800 went to AY Foundation for hospital beds in Butuan Medical Center’s isolation and quarantine facility and for N95 masks for Carmona Hospital and Medical Center in Cavite.
Cardholders may earn reward points from credit card purchases and they can donate their accumulated points to their chosen NGO partners by filling-up the form at the RCBC Bankard website at www.rcbcbankard.com.
Every 800 rewards points is equivalent to P200.
