The passers of the 2019 Bar Examinations on Thursday became the first batch of news lawyers who took their oath via online video conference as necessitated by the country’s continuous fight against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, which has now infected more than 30,000 people in the country and killed more than 1,000 others.
The Supreme Court has approved the holding of the virtual oath-taking ceremony for the 2,103 bar passers that successfully hurdled the 2019 Bar exams.
The SC said that the current health crisis and COVID-19 pandemic made it not possible to hold the oath-taking ceremony the traditional way, as it had to take into consideration the existing government policies on public health, particularly on mass gatherings.
