Former Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tab Baldwin has reportedly been relieved from his post as consultant and assistant coach of the TNT Katropa in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Baldwin’s relief came two weeks after he uttered controversial comments about the league’s officiating and single-import conference.
His fiery remarks, along with his observations on the “tactical immaturity” of the local coaches was discussed in the Coaches Unfiltered podcast last June 11.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial fined Baldwin P75,000 and suspended him for three games in the pro league.
Baldwin has since apologized to the PBA.
TNT management, through team manager Gabby Cui, however, said that Baldwin’s exit as TNT official was not a result of his PBA comments.
The American-New Zealander is also coach of the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the University Athletic Association and a program director of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
