An ad hoc committee has been formed by the Philippine Taekwondo Association to address a situation involving Olympian Donnie Geisler, who has taken legal action against the association by filing a complaint before the Philippine Competitions Commission on Wednesday.
This was after Geisler expressed his concern on the PTA recently after members of the national team were prohibited from joining the online Zoom classes that he has been organizing.
“We sent him an email, informing him that we formed a committee to get in touch with him. Ipakita niya kung ano ang problema,” said PTA secretary general Rocky Samson in a statement.
Geisler alleged that his situation with PTA involved Pauline Lopez when she was not permitted to join the online conference as a guest speaker. Then, other national athletes like Samuel Morrison and Arven Alcantara were prevented as well.
Morrison and Alcantara submitted courtesy resignations for their participation.
But the PTA, through its top leader Sung-Chon Hong did not accept their offer to quit and forgave them instead.
Samson said the inclusion of national team members in the seminar did not carry the permission of the association.
“We need to get through the proper protocols. This came out without him approaching the PTA. We just want to be official when he talks about his complaints,” said Samson.
The Philippine Sports Commission is set to join a dialogue involving the PTA and Geisler this Friday.
