The City Government of Navotas has started the distribution of cash grants to special education (SPED) students.
Some 314 beneficiaries of the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Students Educational Assistance/Scholarship received their January to March cash allowance worth P1,500.
Under the scholarship agreement, Navotas provides PWD students with P500 monthly educational assistance or P5,000 per academic year.
The scholars, on the other hand, are expected to attend at least 90% of the allotted school days per school year and actively participate in their respective classes.
“The distribution of cash allowance is scheduled for three days in six key locations to accommodate all beneficiaries and their representatives, and to maintain social distancing,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
“We hope the release of their educational assistance will help them and their families as they prepare for the coming school year,” he added.
Aside from the educational assistance, beneficiaries also received a face mask from Congressman John Rey Tiangco and relief pack from the Coca-Cola Foundation.
Applicants to the program need to be Navoteños or at least one of their parents/guardians are bonafide residents and registered voters in Navotas. They should be enrolled in a public school or public SPED school within the city.
They must also have a PWD identification card issued or validated by the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) and their family should not be a beneficiary of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
