The Makati City government on Wednesday announced it had launched an online payment portal where business owners and residents could pay their business and real property taxes for the second quarter without going to City Hall.

“Since Metro Manila has shifted to general community quarantine (GCQ), this process ensures that Makatizens can complete their financial transactions with City Hall without having to leave their homes and offices. As much as possible, we also want to minimize the number of people going to the City Hall to prevent the spread of COVID 19,” Mayor Abigail Binay said.

Binay said business owners and residents could go to www.makationlinepayments.com. She added a step-by-step guide was available through the city’s official Facebook page My Makati.

Residents may also use GCash’s bank transfer feature by sending payments to the City Government of Makati, with the account number 003452-1008-85.

For first quarter and delinquent payments, business owners and residents need to settle their tax obligations at City Hall, from 8am to 2pm on weekdays.

The deadline for the payment of business and real property taxes is on June 25, 2020. Those who will pay the RPT on or before the deadline will get a five-percent discount.

Last April 23, the Department of Finance released Circular 0202-2020, which extends the

deadlines for the payment of taxes, fees, and other charges of local government units to June 25, in view of the economic disruptions brought by the pandemic.

Binay said her administration would also implement similar innovations in the coming months to ensure the safety and convenience of residents amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In May, the local government distributed P5,000 each to registered voters, Yellow Card holders, and Makatizen Card holders using GCash to help them during the community quarantine.

Under the Makatizen Economic Relief Program, the city government has allocated P2.7 billion for some 500,000 residents affected by the pandemic.

The city has also distributed the second tranche of financial assistance for at least 8,000 tricycle, jeepney and pedicab drivers using electronic money transfers to avoid physical contact and ensure fast delivery of benefits.
