The City Government of Navotas will resume distribution of educational assistance to high school students today (Monday).
Some 383 junior high students from Tanza National High School and Kaunlaran High School will receive P5,000 each.
“When I was still in Congress, we allotted P5.5 million for the educational assistance of 1,100 indigent learners. Some of the funds have already been distributed last year and before the COVID-19 pandemic happened,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
“Our schools are now accepting enrollees and we expect classes to start in August. We hope the cash assistance will somehow help our students and their families, especially as they adjust to the blended learning approach of our education sector,” he added.
Last year, Navotas installed NavoConnect free WiFi in schools and other public areas within the city. Tiangco said students and teachers may use it for online classes.
Those who do not have access to computers or internet will be given NavoSchool in a Box, which will contain modules and activity sheets that will be brought to the learner’s home.
