Navotas reskeds anew deadline of tax payment, vehicle registration

Due to the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to May 31, the City Government of Navotas again moved the deadlines for tax payment and registration of private and public utility vehicles (PUV).

City Ordinance No. 2020-25 extended the deadline for the payment of the first installment of basic real property tax, special education fund tax, and/or idle land tax due on real properties from March 31, 2020 to June 30, 2020.

Payment for the second quarter has also been extended to July 31, 2020 free of surcharge, penalty, and interest.

The second quarterly installment of business taxes due on April 20, 2020 may be paid until July 31, 2020 while the payment for the third quarter may be settled until September 30, 2020.

Furthermore, the deadline for the payment of transfer tax on real property ownership, wherein the date of the execution of deed or the date of the property owner’s death happened from January 17, 2020 onwards, shall be extended to July 31, 2020.

“Our City Treasurer’s Office and Business Permits and Licensing Office are open for those who wish to settle their tax dues. They are not, however, required to pay now. The deadline for tax payments has been moved once again in view of the ECQ extension,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the financial capacity of business and property owners. We hope that once the quarantine has been lifted, they will be able to get back on their feet and resume operations,” he said.

Meanwhile, City Ordinance No. 2020-26 moved the registration deadline for motorized tricycles and pedicabs with plate/sticker numbers ending in 7, 8, 9 and 0 from March to July 31, 2020.

Renewal of regulatory stickers for public utility jeeps with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 may be done until July 31, 2020. Those ending in 5, 6 and 7 may be renewed until August 31, 2020.

Per City Ordinance No. 2020-27, Navotas also extended the deadline for owners of private motorized tricycles and pedicabs to secure registration plates from March 31, 2020 to July 31, 2020.
